Legion Baseball
The Waconia Baseball Association is dedicated to fostering a love for baseball in the
Waconia community by providing a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment for
players ages 15–19. Our Legion Baseball program emphasizes sportsmanship,
teamwork, player development, and preparation for high school and post-high-school
baseball.
Beginning with the 2026 season, Waconia will field three Legion Baseball teams: one
Senior Legion team, one Tier 1A team and one Junior Legion team.
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Answer: Players ages 15–19, subject to American Legion Baseball eligibility rules.
Senior American Legion Baseball
- For the 2026 Senior American Legion season, those born on or after January 1, 2007
- Eligible players must have been rostered on the 2026 Waconia High School team or currently play at the college, junior college, or community college level
- Players may not turn 19 prior to January 1, 2026
Junior American Legion Baseball
- For the 2026 Junior American Legion season (17 and under program), those born on or after January 1, 2009
- Players rostered on the 2026 Waconia High School team who do not turn 18 prior to January 1, 2026
- Players will be assigned to Tier 1A Legion team or Junior Legion team based on numbers and roster needs
Not Eligible:
- Players born January 1, 2014 or later
- Students not rostered on the 2026 high school team (grades 9–12), except by invitation if roster numbers require
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Answer:
- Season begins late May / early June
- Runs through late July / early August, including postseason play
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
Answer: Home games are primarily played at Waconia Lions Field
- Address: 927 Wildcat Way, Waconia, MN 55387
- Due to field demand, some Junior Legion and/or Tier 1A “home” games may be played at neighboring community fields

1. Senior Legion
2. Tier 1A Legion
3. Junior Legion
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Answer:
- Teams typically practice 1–3 times per week
- Additional hitting or preparation may occur on game days at Lions Field
Games
How many games will they play? What days of the week?
Answer:
- Teams typically play 20–30+ games during the season
- Games are primarily weeknights, with weekend games and tournaments mixed in
- Program goal for 2026:
- 3–5 games per week
- 2–3 weekend tournaments
Jerseys & Uniforms
Do you know if jerseys are provided or if they are purchased separately?
Answer:
- Hats: Hats are provided by the Waconia Baseball Association
- Jerseys: Jersey packs (3 jerseys) must be purchased through the Waconia Baseball Association. Numbers will be assigned by team management. It is our goal to have the jerseys be used for multiple seasons, however, if a specific jersey or style becomes obsolete you may be required to purchase an additional jersey pack in subsequent seasons.
- Pants: Pants must be purchased separately. All white, no pinstripes.
- Helmets, Cleats and Personal Equipment: Must be purchased separately.
Extra Costs
What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?
Answer: No additional funds are needed beyond registration fees. Meals and driving are the responsibility of the athlete.
